I'm pretty happy with my progress in the Netflix Prize. Not that I have any chance of winning it considering where the leaders are, but my latest submission is scoring 1.81% better than the original Netflix algorithm. This is good enough for 14th position at the moment. SBCL developers are well represented on the leaderboard: Gábor Melis is a few positions ahead of me, with a 2.9% improvement.

Heh, I see you've been sucked into jockeying over your position too. It's hard to walk away and watch your position slip, isn't it? [In my case, I just try to find a plce to plug in my laptop and let it train (usually overnight while I'm sleeping in a youth hostel, heh) and then upload better results when I get a chance. At this rate, I'm not quite keeping up. Oh well. :) ]

Like I said in an earlier entry, I'm a sucker for competitions ;-)
